Kadri Simson: Sustainability of critical mineral resources must be ensured for energy transition

Financing should be increased for non-industrial economies, and key mineral resources playing a role in energy transition should be provided fairly and sustainably, Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, said at the Energy Transition Investment Forum for Central Asia held within the framework of COP29, Report informs.
Simson stated that without these, it's impossible to achieve renewable energy and energy efficiency targets: "As a result, we cannot achieve a clean energy transition compatible with 1.5°C target. COP28 marked the beginning of the transition period from fossil fuel to alternative fuel. However, countries are not yet moving at the required speed to reach these goals. Nevertheless, these goals are still achievable."
