Countries must achieve 65% reduction in carbon emissions by 2035, Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), said at an event titled "Financing low-carbon technology, including nuclear energy" organized on the sidelines of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.
According to La Camera, the future of renewable energy is related to its competitiveness: "Therefore, we must consider the costs in this direction. Eighty-seven percent of the energy capacity installed last year came from renewable energy. This figure was 473 gigawatts. We must reduce carbon emissions by 65% by 2035. For this, we should prioritize technology that can deliver results within this timeframe."
