Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, expressed his disappointment at Armenia's absence from the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, Report informs.
Speaking to journalists, Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan, as a member of the convention, had sent invitations to all parties, including Armenia. "Although Armenia passed the registration, we have not received any information about the participation of their representatives," he said.
Hajiyev emphasized that if Armenia itself does not participate in this event and talks about regional cooperation and inter-country contacts, it once again demonstrates that Armenia is only trying to engage in unilateral propaganda. "We believe that Armenia, as a member of the convention, received an invitation and could have participated in the event as a party. In any case, it is Armenia's own decision," he added.
The presidential assistant reiterated that Azerbaijan, as a member of the convention, has fulfilled its responsibilities and created all the necessary conditions for all states to hold necessary, essential, and result-oriented discussions. However, he pointed out that Armenia and related circles are closely involved in the campaign against Azerbaijan.
