First deputy PM: Priority of green growth demonstrates Azerbaijan's readiness to host COP

Azerbaijan's projects in renewable energy sources have demonstrated positive results, Azerbaijan's First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev said at the panel discussion within the framework of the XI Global Baku Forum.

According to Report, he said the first project was the 230-MW solar power plant last year.

"Our goal is to generate up to 5 GW of solar and other environmentally safe power by 2030 through partnerships with the leading companies such as Masdar and so on. In the future, we seek to use potential renewable energy sources both onshore and in the Caspian Sea to become a major exporter of the eco-friendly energy," he said.

Clean environment and green growth are among main priorities of Azerbaijan's national development strategy, he said, stressing that it demonsrates the country's readiness to host COP29.
