Event to accelerate decarbonization in oil and gas industry held within COP29

The Blue Zone of COP29 witnessed a significant event organized by the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC) and supported by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), focusing on "Accelerating Decarbonization in the Oil and Gas Industry".

Report informs citing SOCAR that the event, held by OGDC Charter moderator Julien Perez, brought together Rovshan Najaf, President of SOCAR; Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies; Fred Krupp, President of the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF); and representatives from the fund and other stakeholders.

Participants exchanged insights on the achievements of OGDC member companies in reducing emissions since COP28, strategic decarbonization priorities, targets for the coming years, collaboration, and innovation. It was noted that the activities carried out under the Charter will make a crucial contribution to consolidating global efforts to reduce emissions and introduce more sustainable environmental solutions.
