Azerbaijan among top nations leading COP29 Peace and Climate Initiative

The COP29 Peace and Climate Initiative Leaders Group will consist of Azerbaijan, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Uganda, and the United Kingdom, Elshad Isgandarov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a panel session of the UN Pre-Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (Pre-COP29) held in Baku, Report informs.

He noted that a meeting will be held in Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi within the framework of COP29:

"The main purpose is to discuss the COP29 Peace Day, hold roundtables and consultations. The main topic of the roundtable will be exploring the human factor in climate change, peace, and security. Another key initiative of the Peace Day is the creation of the Baku hub. This framework aims to increase the climate resilience of vulnerable groups and provide financial support for this. Affected ecosystems and people will be identified."
