COP28 president: 55 companies committed to zero emissions by 2050

Fifty-five companies have joined the Oil & Gas Decarbonization Charter, committing to reduce methane emissions to zero by 2030 and net emissions to zero by 2050, COP28 President Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said at the opening ceremony of COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

Al Jaber stated that this initiative is aimed at getting effective outcomes: "Participants from China, India, Russia, the US, the EU, and Gulf countries are active in this matter. This is the most impactful private sector partnership to date to reduce carbon emissions, and we expect more companies to join this important initiative. If we work together across all sectors, we can strengthen economies and reduce emissions."

The COP28 president noted that he continues to call for making public and private sector resources and financing more accessible and affordable.
