Burak Aykan: Türkiye to allocate more than half of Transport Ministry's budget to railways

Türkiye plans to allocate more than half of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's budget to the railway sector to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Burak Aykan, Director General of the Department of European Union Affairs and International Relations of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, said at an event dedicated to sustainable transport corridors within COP29.
According to Report, he noted that the goal is to increase the share of railway transportation to approximately 22% by 2053. "Our commitment to electrifying railway lines will enable the use of clean energy sources and accelerate the achievement of our goals for a sustainable future," he said.
