Azerbaijan's State Security Service warns of fake COP29-related websites

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Security of Azerbaijan is warning citizens about the proliferation of fake websites and job scams related to the upcoming 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), set to take place in Azerbaijan later this year.

According to Report, which cites the State Service, as the high-profile international event approaches, there has been a significant increase in fraudulent online resources connected to COP29. Some of these fake websites are designed to spread misinformation and manipulate public opinion, while others have been created by cybercriminals who post fake job advertisements on social media platforms and various business and employment websites, claiming to offer positions related to the conference.

The State Service has announced that, in collaboration with the COP29 Security Management Center, they have identified and blocked access to 15 fake information resources within the country.

Authorities are urging the public to rely solely on official sources for information about COP29 and to be cautious of fraudulent campaigns circulating on social media.
