Arpadarai: Humanity needs to adapt to new realities in context of climate change

Climate change is the biggest problem facing humanity, and it is necessary to adapt to new realities, UN High-Level Climate Champion for COP29, Nigar Arpadarai, said at a panel session on the second day of Pre-COP29 in Baku, Report informs.

Arpadarai also noted that this issue should be viewed from the perspective of emerging advantages.

"Currently, there's a major global discussion about whether all this will create green jobs, new types of jobs. Well, if you ask me, I would say that we are facing not only the problem of climate change but also completely new realities that we need to adapt to. Thus, we need to think in new ways, learn to live, and manage our businesses. We need not only skills in climate change and greening but also artificial intelligence, which is part of our lives," she said.

Speaking about new realities, Arpadarai also mentioned the involvement of education in this process.

"When we talk about new education, we will obviously need new climate literacy programs that will teach our children and youth new sustainable development practices. Thus, we essentially need access to resources, which are often lacking in many cases," she noted.
