The Green Energy Corridor, a project involving an underwater electric cable in the Black Sea, will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to ensuring the energy transition, stated Andrea Meola, Business Development Director of the Italian company CESI S.p.A., a consulting firm for the Black Sea Energy Project, according to Report.

On December 17, 2022, the governments of Azerbaijan, Hungary, Georgia, and Romania signed an agreement in Bucharest on strategic partnership in the development and supply of green energy. The agreement provides for laying a 1 GW power transmission cable along the bottom of the Black Sea. The line will have a length of 1,195 km and is intended for supplying electricity produced in Azerbaijan via Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania for further transportation to Hungary and the rest of Europe.
