Azerbaijan's preparations for COP29 are going very well and Brazil is giving full support to Azerbaijan in the COP presidency, Ana Toni, Brazil's National Secretary for Climate Change, said in her statement to Report.
“We have a lot to learn from Azerbaijan for our leadership in COP30,” Ana Toni stated.
Ana Toni stressed that she highly values the discussions held with her country regarding Azerbaijan's initiatives under the leadership of Mukhtar Babayev, the President-designate of COP29 and Azerbaijan's Ecology and Natural Resources Minister, as well as expectations from COP29 and many other topics:
"We are working closely with Azerbaijan in preparation for COP29. The foundation of the Rio Troika was laid in 1992, and it's very pleasing that this initiative is back on the COP agenda today. Brazil strongly supports this initiative and we will add it to our action plan at COP30. The cooperation between the United Arab Emirates (COP28), Azerbaijan (COP29), and Brazil (COP30) within the framework of the COP Presidencies Troika has created an opportunity for closer collaboration between my country and Azerbaijan. As you can see, I'm wearing a scarf with the COP29 symbol today."
"In a few days, before the COP29 conference, I will be visiting Azerbaijan for the first time to participate in the pre-COP event in Baku on October 10-11, and I'm very excited. Members of the delegation I lead have been to Baku several times and have informed me about the beauty of the city.
I'm sure that during that meeting, we will obtain more detailed information about COP29's discussions, initiatives, agreements, and projects," Ana Toni added.
