US invests over $18B in Azerbaijan

The United States has invested more than $18 billion in Azerbaijan’s economy, after the country gained independence, First Deputy Economy Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Aliyev said at a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets Arun Venkataraman, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Economy Ministry.

The meeting participants discussed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries, diversification of energy resources, technology transfer, as well as areas of cooperation in logistics, green energy, etc.

Elnur Aliyev noted the importance of organizing the US-Azerbaijan Green Energy Forum in Baku in terms of increasing the volume of investments between the two countries and applying the US experience in the renewable energy sector. It was mentioned that there are already examples of Azerbaijan's successful cooperation with the world's leading companies in this field.

The Azerbaijani deputy minister also stressed that there is great potential in terms of diversifying trade and economic relations, in particular in agriculture, logistics, know-how and other fields.
