UAE resumes onion imports from Azerbaijan

From January through February 2022, Azerbaijan imported 72.95 tons of onions worth $30,260, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, the imports dropped 99% in monetary terms and 99.1% in quantity as compared to the same period last year.
Azerbaijan purchased 65.75 tons of onions for $26,300 from Russia and 7.2 tons for $3,960 from the Netherlands.
Supplies from Russia dropped 98.8% in monetary terms and 98.9% in terms of volume compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the onion imports from the Netherlands fell 46.1% in monetary terms and 46.3% in terms of volume.
In the first two months of 2022, Azerbaijan exported 120.06 tons of onions worth $78,580. The exports decreased 13.1% in monetary terms, but increased 19.2% in volume, compared to the same period last year.
Azerbaijan sold 79.31 tons of onions worth $71,370 to Russia, 21.95 tons worth $4,390 to Ukraine and 18.8 tons worth $2,820 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Compared to the previous year’s figures, the onion exports to Russia fell 20.4%, both in monetary and quantitative terms. There were no onion exports from Azerbaijan to Ukraine in the first two months of last year. The supplies to the UAE resumed after a year and two months.
