Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, Report informs.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on priority issues of interaction between the two countries in the context of the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, as well as the existing potential for building up partnership across its entire spectrum.
Particular emphasis was placed on the high dynamics of the development of productive ties, which are being successfully built both in bilateral and multilateral formats - within the authoritative international organizations and structures.
Jabbarov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to building up economic cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Emphasizing the strategic nature of interstate interaction in political, trade and economic, transport and communication, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, the parties noted the importance of strengthening the role of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission on economic cooperation as a coordinating body for the development of relations in various directions. In this context, mutual investments are one of the factors for expanding a fruitful partnership.
During the meeting, it was noted that the geographical location of the two neighboring states creates favorable preconditions for the effective implementation of projects to form transcontinental transport and transit corridors that provide optimal land and sea routes for the transportation of goods, and their integration into the international transport infrastructure.
The minister noted that the agreements reached during the visit of the Turkmen president to Azerbaijan gave a powerful impetus to the further development of transport and logistics ties.
One of the topics of discussion included the issues of interaction in the energy sector, which is strategic for the Turkmen and Azerbaijani national economies. Emphasizing that the development of this sector is a priority for both states with the biggest oil and gas fields, the parties spoke in favor of building up traditional cooperation based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.
