Singapore to ban ICE car sales in 2025

Singapore has also declared war on gasoline and diesel vehicles.

Report informs citing Bloomberg that from 2025 the Asian country will ban registering new cars with internal combustion engines (ICE). Besides, the country also plans to introduce a complete ban on their use as taxis.

It was initially planned to introduce a ban on ICE cars’ registration in 2030, but now the deadlines have been shifted five years back. The Singapore authorities explain the decision by the desire to reduce the harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

The country is expected to put a complete ban on the use of ICE vehicles in 2040.

The particular emphasis on the 2025 ban on ICE cars as taxis is most likely because more than 40% of taxis in Singapore are diesel vehicles.

The UK, Germany, Denmark, and several other countries are planning to ban the sale of gasoline and diesel cars in 2030.
