The State Customs Committee (SCC) almost has no influence on the price of medicines, Shahin Bagirov, the first Deputy Chairman and acting chairman of the State Customs Committee, said at the meeting of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Committee for Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship, Report informs.
"In many cases, we are unable to dispense medicines in bulk. For example, no customs officer will object to how much aspirin is brought. But there are some drugs that need to be monitored.
"As for the prices, customs have no role in the rise of medicine prices. As far as I know, drugs are not sold in pharmacies above the limit set by the Tariff Council. If it happens, that's another issue," he said.
