Russia’s Astrakhan region eyes increasing supplies to Azerbaijani market

Russia’s Astrakhan business center in Baku has started the implementation of new projects, said Irahid Mirishov, the center’s founder, Report informs citing Russian media.

He noted that the strengthening of trade and economic ties remains a priority area of cooperation between the Astrakhan region and Azerbaijan. The program of measures for its development for the current year, adopted last December during the visit of the governor of the region Igor Babushkin to Azerbaijan, is starting to be implemented.

“Currently, work is underway on projects that will increase the supply of Russian goods to the Azerbaijani market. The Ministry of Economic Development of the Astrakhan Region and the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan have joined this work,” Irahid Mirishov said.

He noted that in the future, on the basis of the Center, it is planned to open an Astrakhan trading house in Baku, so that Astrakhan commodity producers have the opportunity to sell their products in Azerbaijan. A project is also being developed to open several Astrakhan branded stores in Baku.

“Last year, the trade turnover between the Astrakhan region and Azerbaijan amounted to more than $17 million, having increased by 18 percent,” said the founder of the Center. “This year there are all prerequisites to increase these figures.”
