Relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are deepening, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said during the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey business forum in Baku, Report informs.
"The bilateral trade is growing despite the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
"In January-October of this year, Azerbaijan's trade with Georgia grew by 33% compared to the same period last year. Azerbaijan is one of the major investors in Georgia. To date, the volume of our investments in this country has made $3.3 billion. We are interested in the implementation of new projects," he said.
According to Jabbarov, Azerbaijan is interested in expanding economic ties with Georgia: "I believe that in the future, the activities of businessmen will result in new opportunities in the liberated territories."
Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava believes that there is potential for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.
"High-level neighborly relations will be at a higher level. As the Georgian government, we are ready to expand our future cooperation. We welcome the fact that such business forums have become a tradition. The results of cooperation are very satisfactory. Tere is an opportunity to expand cooperation in energy, industry and agriculture in the coming years."
She added that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline projects are very important for the security of the region. "This meeting will be very productive and our economic ties will expand," he said.
