Large cache of banned fishing nets from China seized in Azerbaijan

A customs inspection at the Absheron customs post of the Baku Head Customs Department uncovered a large number of unauthorized fishing nets in cargo arriving from China, intended for an Azerbaijani citizen, Report informs with reference to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
During the inspection, 4,846 pieces of fishing nets made from synthetic single-ply threads with a diameter of less than 0.5 mm and with mesh sizes smaller than 120 mm were found inside the cargo.
The shipment had been declared as containing "soccer balls and thermoses." These nets were not declared to the customs authority, are prohibited from civil circulation, and were not permitted for import.
