Georgia’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan surges 13%

In January-May 2023, the trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan amounted to $612 million, 13.2% more than a year ago, Report informs, citing the National Statistical Office of Georgia (GeoStat).
This figure made up 7.3% of Georgia’s total trade turnover.
Exports from Georgia to Azerbaijan increased by 50.2% to $336.5 million (13.4% of total exports), while imports from Azerbaijan amounted to $275.5 million (4.7% of total imports), down 13% from a year earlier.
In the first five months, Georgia’s total trade turnover surged 19% to $8.363 billion, with 18.6% growth in exports ($2.503 billion) and 19.1% in imports ($5.860 billion). Consequently, the negative balance in the trade turnover of the neighboring country was $3.357 billion.
