A mini-factory for the production of pomegranate juice has been opened in the Mughanli village of Kurdamir.

Report informs that the construction of the enterprise has been financed by the European Union within the framework of the STEP project.

Representatives of the EU delegation in Azerbaijan, head of the Kurdamir Executive Power Elkhan Ibrahimov and other officials attended the event.

It was noted that as part of the STEP project between August 2020 and October 2022, the European Union extended financial assistance to over 2,000 pomegranate producers in seven Azerbaijani districts including in Goychay, Hajigabul, Imishli, Kurdamir, Saatli, Sabirabad and Ujar. The total budget of the project was close to 590,000 euros, with over 500,000 euros allocated by the European Union.

The enterprise is aimed at supporting local pomegranate producers in processing and sale of their production.

The ultimate goal of the project is to bring local producers to foreign markets.

Elkhan Ibrahimov, head of the regional executive power, noted that the opening of this plant will benefit the development of pomegranate growing in Kurdamir.

Farmers participating in the STEP project said that during the year, Turkish specialists conducted trainings for them, as a result of which they managed to increase their yields, and now they are supplying more products to the pomegranate juice plant.

The technologist of the mini-factory also told the guests about the process of making pomegranate juice.
