Carlsberg Group will continue to promote business in Azerbaijan regardless of the company’s decision to sell the Baltika brand and leave the Russian market, the Carlsberg Group told Report.
“We are proud of our team and brands in Azerbaijan and we will continue to work with them to advance the business,” the company said.
On March 29, 2022, Carlsberg Group announced its withdrawal from the Russian market due to the situation around Ukraine. “On March 9, we announced a strategic review of the presence of the Carlsberg Group in Russia. Based on this review, we have made the difficult and immediate decision to seek the complete liquidation of our business in Russia,” the company said.
Russia’s Baltika Brewery, which is part of the Carlsberg Group, has been supplying beer to Azerbaijan since 2000. The volume of Carlsberg Azerbaijan’s annual allocations to the budget is about 30 million manats. According to the information on the company’s website, since the start of activities as of 2019, their volume is 150 million manats. To continue integration into the Carlsberg Group, in February 2017, the plant was renamed Carlsberg Azerbaijan.
