BHOS launches paid export of higher education programs to Uzbekistan

The Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), has initiated dual diploma program projects with two prominent Uzbek universities - the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute.

According to Report, this was announced during a meeting between SOCAR's Vice President, Ziba Mustafayeva, and the Rector of Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute, Sadokat Siddikova, as part of Mustafayeva's official visit to Uzbekistan.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone as it represents the first instance of Azerbaijan exporting its higher education programs to a foreign country on a paid basis.

In this context, satisfaction was expressed with the signing of a contract between BHOS and the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute for the paid dual diploma program in Chemical Engineering at the master's level.

Under this contract, students will spend their first year at the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute and their second year at BHOS. Their final defense will be conducted by BHOS, and upon completion, they will receive diplomas from both institutions.

This joint initiative is expected to contribute significantly to the development of competitive human capital and advance education and scientific research in both countries.

The decision for this dual diploma program was made during the 12th session of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission held in Shusha on July 18, 2023.

On the same date, SOCAR and Uzbekneftegaz Joint Stock Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding on personnel training, further cementing this educational partnership.
