Investors from Azerbaijan are exploring the possibility of investing in the construction of corn processing plants in the Indonesian provinces of North Lombok and West Nusa Tenggara.

Report informs citing Indonesian media that the corn processing plant to be built by Azerbaijani investors will produce flour and low-calorie sugar.

The head of the One Door Integrated Investment and Licensing Office (DPM-PTSP), Muhammad Rum, explained that investors from Azerbaijan had contacted the West Nusa Tenggara provincial government with a request to provide land for the construction of the plant.

"Investors have chosen North Lombok because it is close to the port of Charik, which will facilitate transportation, delivery of goods from the area and export abroad," he added.

Raw materials for the corn plant, Muhammad Rum continued, are planned to be supplied from the province of Lombok and from the island of Sumbawa. He estimates that the investment cost of building a corn processing plant could reach hundreds of billions of rupees.

In addition to building the plant, Azerbaijani investors will also invest in the construction of solar power plants (PLTS) in Santong, North Lombok.
