Azerbaijan to commence insulin production in 2025

The Russian pharmaceutical company Geropharm is set to begin insulin production in the country by 2025, according to Report, which cites Izvestiya.

Russia's Trade Representative in Azerbaijan, Ruslan Mirsayapov, said currently, Azerbaijan relies entirely on insulin imports, as there is no domestic production of the drug. The localization of insulin manufacturing by Geropharm is expected to bridge this gap and ensure a more stable and affordable supply for those in need. Mirsayapov stated.

The production will be carried out at the facilities of Geropharm's partner in Azerbaijan, leveraging their expertise and infrastructure.

Earlier, the Azerbaijan-based pharmaceutical complex of the Russian group of companies R-Pharm recently announced the release of its first batch of a drug aimed at preventing complications associated with diabetes. Under a five-year agreement, the plant is set to produce approximately 1 million packages of the medication annually.
