Azerbaijan starts importing cheese from another country

In January-July this year, Azerbaijan imported 3,528 tons of cheese worth $13.01 million, marking a 3.2% growth in quantitative terms and 3.6% growth in terms of value compared to the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 460.7 tons (+16.5%) of cheese worth $2 million (+24%) from Turkiye, 366.2 tons (-16.5%) worth $1.8 million (-8.9%) from Lithuania, 971.4 tons (+49.6%) worth $1.7 million (+59.1%) from Iran, 334.6 (-37%) tons worth $ 1.7 million (-25.7%) from Germany, and 313.1 tons (+39.1%) worth $1.6 million (+44%) from Belarus.

Azerbaijan purchased cheese from Greece for the first time in 11 years (official statistics on foreign trade in open access since 2011). In all, 0.01 tons of cheese worth $100 were imported from this country.

Last year, Iran supplied 23%, Lithuania was responsible for 13%, Turkiye accounted for 13%, Germany accounted for 12.6%, and Russia accounted for 9.8% of the 6,393 tons of cheese that Azerbaijan imported from 31 countries.
