Azerbaijan’s garlic imports from China skyrocket

In January-May of 2025, Azerbaijan imported 597 tons of garlic worth $784,000, marking a year-on-year increase of 23% in volume and 28% in value, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.
During this period, Azerbaijan imported garlic from:
- China: 380.5 tons (+9 times) worth $494,700 (+9 times);
- Egypt: 115 tons (+44%) worth $149,500 (+44%);
- Iran: 80.9 tons (-73%) worth $106,850 (-73%);
- Russia: 20.6 tons (-55%) worth $32,900 (-23%).
In 2024, 44.4% of the 978 tons of garlic imported to Azerbaijan came from China, while 37% came from Iran.
