Azerbaijan imported more dates in 2023 than in 2022, according to the data from the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

The country spent $12 million on 7,966 tons of fresh or dried dates, which is a 13-percent increase in value and an 8-percent increase in volume.

Most of the dates came from Iran, which supplied 6,151 tons worth $7.1 million, marking a 10-percent increase in value and a 6-percent increase in volume from 2022.

Tunisia was the second-largest source of dates, with 1,162 tons worth $2.1 million. This is a 32-percent increase in value and a 36-percent increase in volume from 2022.

Azerbaijan also imported dates from Israel, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, the US, and Paraguay. The imports from Israel and Saudi Arabia increased, while the imports from Algeria decreased. The imports from the US and Paraguay were new in 2023.

In 2022, Azerbaijan imported 7,400 tons of dates from 12 countries, with Iran, Tunisia, and Algeria being the top three suppliers.
