Azerbaijan’s canned peanut imports from UAE skyrocket

Azerbaijan imported 581 tons of canned peanuts, valued at $1.6 million in the first five months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

The committee noted that this is an increase of 74 percent in value, and 2.1 times in volume since the corresponding period of 2023.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan imported 345 tons (+2 times) of canned peanuts from China worth $921,000 (-81%), 41 tons (-9%) from Türkiye worth $183,200 (-0.04%), 91 tons from Uzbekistan worth $182,000 (no supply a year ago), 20 tons (-9%) from Ukraine worth $101,000 (+2%), and 28 tons (+17 times) from the UAE worth $93,000 (+19 times).

Meanwhile, in 2023, Azerbaijan imported a total of 755 tons of peanuts from 22 countries, 52 percent of which came from China.
