Azerbaijan resumes rolled steel imports from two countries

Azerbaijan imported 167,707 tons of rolled steel, valued at $131.8 million during the initial five months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.

Compared to the corresponding period of 2023, the imports grew by 51 percent in volume and rose by 88 percent in value.

In January-March 2024, Azerbaijan imported 118,588 tons (+7%) of rolled steel from Russia worth $81.1 million (+15.4%), 26,111 tons (+34%) from China, worth $28.3 million (+31%), 8,844 tons (+36%) from Kazakhstan worth $8.1 million (+29%), 6,931 tons (+7%) worth $7.7 million from Türkiye (-4%), 6,268 tons (+66%) from Iran worth $5.3 million (+63%).

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan resumed rolled steel imports from Georgia after a hiatus of 1 year and 7 months (0.8 tons worth $950) and from Switzerland after a break of 1 year and 2 months (7.5 tons worth $8,200).
