Azerbaijan records five-fold increase in tomato imports from Turkmenistan

Azerbaijan exported 52,175 tons of tomatoes, valued at $71.2 million during the initial four months of 2024, Report informs, citing the country’s State Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, this is an increase of 20 percent in volume and 31 percent in value year-on-year.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan sold 50,910 tons (+22%) of tomatoes to Russia for $68.3 million (+33%), 921 tons (+0.4%) to Belarus for $2.3 million (+4.5%), 252 tons (-60%) to Poland for $432,000 (-52%), 57 tons (no supply a year ago) to Georgia for $55,000 and 34 tons (+89%) to Ukraine for $43,000 (+3 times).

In addition, Azerbaijan imported 811 tons of tomatoes worth $476,300 in four months, representing an increase of 34 percent in volume and 28 in value compared to the same period last year.

Thus, Azerbaijan received 548 tons (+5 times) of tomatoes from Turkmenistan for 304,900 (+5 times), 206.5 tons (-42 %) from Iran for $113,800(-42%), 10 tons (-44%) from Belarus for $32,100 (-35%) and 46.1 tons (-60%) from Türkiye for $25,500 (-60%).
