Azerbaijan more than doubles import of electric cars

In January-February 2024, Azerbaijan imported 13,299 vehicles worth $247.613 million, respectively, down 4.6% and up 24.2% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.
According to the Committee, the number of cars with a capacity of ten or more seats decreased by 17.2% to 24 ($1.03 million), and the number of passenger cars and other motor vehicles declined by 7.2% to 12,023 ($217.72 million).
Of these, 2,571 ($82.729 million) were hybrid vehicles, and 541 ($22.852 million) were electric cars, respectively, up 41.7% and 2.4-fold from the previous year.
Meanwhile, the import of vehicles for cargo transportation rose by 36.1% to 1,185 ($22.527 million), and special cars dropped by 23.9% to 67 ($6.335 million).
