Azerbaijan leads as top organic fertilizer supplier to Georgia

In the first eight months of 2024, Georgia imported 4,296 tons of animal or plant-based (organic) fertilizers from Azerbaijan, valued at $515,520, Report informs, citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

This represents a 10% decrease in value but a 24% increase in quantity compared to the same period in 2023.

Azerbaijan has solidified its position as the top supplier of organic fertilizers to Georgia. In August alone, Georgia purchased 648 tons of organic fertilizer from Azerbaijan, worth $77,800, marking a 68.8% increase in value and a 69% increase in quantity compared to the previous month.

Over the first eight months, Georgia imported a total of 4,652 tons of organic fertilizer from various countries, valued at $758,000, representing a 1% decrease in value but a 27% increase in quantity compared to the previous year. Other notable suppliers include Italy (30.8 tons worth $97,850), Türkiye (156.48 tons worth $80,520), Latvia (102.33 tons worth $38,300), and Russia (66 tons worth $11,320).

In 2023, Georgia imported 5,629 tons of organic fertilizer from abroad, valued at $1.1 million, with Azerbaijan accounting for 5,302 tons worth $799,000.
