Azerbaijan explores construction material exports to EU markets

Azerbaijan is assessing opportunities to export construction materials to European Union (EU) countries, particularly via the Balkan Peninsula, Shahana Sari, Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Construction Materials Manufacturers Association (ACMMA), said at a press conference, Report informs.

"Currently, the standards of materials for export to European Union countries and logistics issues are being investigated. According to preliminary price research, export could be profitable."

Sari also addressed the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on Azerbaijan’s construction sector. “At the moment, we have not faced serious trade problems with Russia. We are working to increase the export of Azerbaijan's construction materials to Russia. A few months ago, we signed a memorandum with the Russian Trade Counsellor. Currently, the volume of products imported from Russia to Azerbaijan is three times higher than the exports to Russia. We have initiated systematic efforts to balance this trade flow,” she said.

Additionally, she emphasized Central Asian countries as key target markets. “We have trade agreements with these nations, allowing Azerbaijani companies to export more easily. Since transporting construction materials is challenging, profitability decreases when exporting from one country to another. Therefore, exporting to these countries remains a profitable strategy for us.”
