Azerbaijan doubles import of electric cars

In January-March 2024, Azerbaijan imported 19,571 vehicles worth $361 million, respectively, down 5.9% and up 14.6% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee.
According to the Committee, the number of cars with a capacity of ten or more seats decreased by 23.9% to 35 ($2.254 million), and the number of passenger cars and other motor vehicles declined by 8.6% to 17,610 ($315.79 million).
Of these, 3,615 ($117.985 million) were hybrid vehicles, and 830 ($35.309 million) were electric cars, respectively, up 18.6% and 2-fold from the previous year.
Meanwhile, the import of vehicles for cargo transportation rose by 33.1% to 1,821 ($32.372 million), and special cars dropped by 13.2% to 105 ($10.607 million).
