Ambassador: 'German companies are exploring Azerbaijani market'

Many German companies are in Azerbaijan just to explore the market, German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralf Horlemann told Report.

Speaking about the activity of German companies in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the ambassador noted that a German company was involved in the construction of the Fuzuli airport.

According to him, many more German companies can come to Azerbaijan to implement specific projects in the coming years.

The ambassador noted that eight German companies presented their products at the 26th Azerbaijan International Construction Exhibition at the Baku Expo Center on October 20-22.

According to Ambassador Horlemann, those companies hope to find new partners and make deals in Azerbaijan.

The ambassador commented on the German companies operating in Azerbaijan after the pandemic:

“A little over 200 German companies are represented in Azerbaijan. Some of them are producing, but most of them do retail. After the pandemic, the market was slow and we are still in the face of recovery. And in the case of many companies, including some that are represented here, it’s very difficult to sell more. Because they have reached the limits of the capacity of their production, which is lower, due to the interruption of the delivery chains during the pandemic. They have a shortage of resources, raw materials and also of staff.”

The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany in January-September 2022 amounted to $730.137 million - 2.2% more compared to the same period of 2021.

Exports from Azerbaijan to Germany increased by 20% compared to the same period of 2021 and amounted to $275.224 million. Imports from Germany decreased by 6.2% and amounted to $454.912 million.
