"The Government of Azerbaijan highly appreciates the transformation of the UN in connection with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and recognizes its significance for the present and future of humanity," Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov said today during the second SDG dialogue in Baku on the topic "Towards 2030: social and economic inclusiveness in Azerbaijan," Report informs.
He noted that Azerbaijan has contributed to this concept, which has been implemented since 2015:
"Azerbaijan has submitted three voluntary national reports in this direction to date. The next report is scheduled to be submitted in 2024. There are not many countries that submit three voluntary national reports. But our approach is not only this. The most correct approach is that, in accordance with the UN global project, Azerbaijan has chosen the path of adaptation to its national development strategy. The National Development Strategy of Azerbaijan until 2030 has been adapted to the requirements of the UN global project. After that, we will take steps to deepen integration."
According to Ali Ahmadov, almost 8 years have passed since the adoption of this UN project, but during this time no achievements have been achieved that could give reason to boast of the goals set: “Perhaps there are various objective reasons for this. pandemics, wars, etc. All this had a serious impact on the implementation of the global project. Azerbaijan was one of the countries that over the years have taken serious steps towards the UN global project.
Azerbaijan liberated the occupied lands and thereby contributed to the UN project to change the status of millions of refugees. But the infrastructure on these lands is completely destroyed. It is also one of the biggest challenges our country is facing."
