Report analysis: Enlivening grain export may cause price surge - ANALYSIS

Baku. 25 January. REPORT.AZ/ Grain price in the world market has been stable for already a few months.

Report’s analytical group says the corn price is $0.15 per kg and wheat price is at $0.19.

Experts say that the prices do not change dramatically due to of information shortage.

"As there are no concrete figures on production and export, the market participants do not dare to take steps that may cause a rise or decline in grain prices," specialist at Andersons Jay Smith said.

Moreover, stable weather conditions in the grain-producing regions, as well as stagnation of the US-China trade negotiations do not allow for a decrease or increase in prices on corn and wheat price.

The gran prices have dropped over a few months ago. For instance, corn price was $0.16 a kilogram in May, whereas wheat price amounted to $0.22 in August. The decline in price may also be caused by grain importers pending position. For example, Egypt has not yet spent the money intended for grain purchase. However, there are countries that do not wait a grain price to full. Tunisia, Syria and Bangladesh have called international tenders to buy grain in a certain volume. After announcement of the results of the tenders and start of grain purchase, the market can revive and the prices can rise again.
