Extreme statements from Russian MP - imperial ambitions

Those who live in Russia with the dreams of the empire and the Soviet-era become more visible when the situation becomes tense. In the past, this role was mostly played by Vladimir Zhirinovsky. It later became clear that he was expressing the views of those who still could not get rid of the disease of imperial thought and "Great Russian chauvinism" in this country. It was not ruled out that Zhirinovsky delivered the thoughts of some Russian officials. In other words, his speeches also made it possible to determine the attitude of the Russian government to other states.

Russia's official propaganda media, including TV channels, have once again provided platforms for such hilarious politicians and ideologues. The war in Ukraine has allowed such forces to reveal all their rage and resentments. Such politicians and statesmen, who have woken up with the dream of rebuilding the Soviet and the Russian empire, still cannot accept the collapse of Tsarist Russia for more than a hundred years and the USSR for 31 years. Those who went to the archives of history have not returned yet. In this sense, the speech and behavior of such reactionary thinkers is nothing more than an attempt to resurrect the dead.

On March 27, Mikhail Delyagin, deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma's Economic Policy Committee, economist and publicist spoke on Russia 1's "60 Minutes" program and made a speech that could lead to unrest and confrontation. The program, hosted by Olga Skabeyeva and Yevgeny Popov, justified Russia's military operations in Ukraine and suggested annexing Ukraine to the Russian Federation. As if it was not enough, the Duma member also campaigned against Poland, which is worried due to Russia's actions in Ukraine. He said Warsaw was continuing to gather troops along the Polish-Russian border. He also gave "advice" on the steps to be taken by Russia in the current situation: "It is likely that Poland will try to attack Belarus independently, not as part of NATO." Belarus's border is, in fact, Russia's. And Azerbaijan has violated the ceasefire in Karabakh, and has not withdrawn from its new positions. I mean, American satellites have such an aggressive policy, and it must be prevented. " He disrespected the alliance between Azerbaijan and Russia, ignored the Russian-Turkish relations, lost the essential human sense of shame by using the phrase "Azerbaijan, which we call a 'state,' is a puppet of Turkiye." The whole world knows that Azerbaijan and Turkiye are two states founded by one ethnicity. It is no secret to the international community that the Shusha Declaration was signed and adopted between the two countries and is already a legal act. In this case, does Delyagi need to behave like a clown ?!

"Azerbaijan is now a real threat, and must be severely punished. Why do we need Azerbaijan's oil industry?! Azerbaijan's oil industry is very vulnerable. If people do not understand words, then we must explain things in action. If we don't, we won't exist. Do you understand?! That's the problem," the Duma member continued his political immorality. With this statement, Delyagin is openly threatening Azerbaijan. He called for the bombing of Azerbaijan, as the bombing of peaceful cities in Ukraine. This is the reality of Russian policy. Otherwise, Russia could be a more democratic state. It is not the former Soviet republics, the European Union, NATO, the United States, but politicians, public figures, TV channels, and the media, who are unable to wake up from imperial fantasy and chauvinism, that drag Russia into an unknown future.

Delyagin and other like-minded members of the war party, which sees aggression as a policy and invades sovereign states by military means and kills children, the elderly and women, are not in the real world yet. If Russia was attractive and strong, or if the USSR was stronger and fairer, then why did the 15 allied republics and the socialist camp disintegrate? Had the Azerbaijani lands not been occupied with the support of such Delyagins in Russia, Armenia could have been an independent state and Russia would not have used Armenia's four Su-30s to bomb Ukraine. Because of the Delyagins, the Azerbaijani lands were occupied by Armenia, and the Khojaly genocide was committed with the direct participation of the 366th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Russia. Therefore, in any country of the world where blood is shed with the participation of Russia, Delyagins participate in this crime. Because they see the way to keep their state alive in the bloodshed. But, if Russia renounced all imperial claims and rage, it would be more democratic, stronger and greater. Delyagins and Zhirinovskys sell Russia's interests through immoral political behavior and propaganda. First of all, the media create conditions for them. The host of the program, Olga Skabeyeva, behaved like a politician: "Moldova and Georgia did not join the sanctions against us. Imagine, Georgia! But Azerbaijan ... The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry made such a statement. We have to do something with it. Maybe now is not the time, but we have to deal with it!" she said. We'd like to draw the attention of Sakabayeva to the fact that Azerbaijan has not stated that it has joined any sanctions against Russia. It provides humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Like other Russian allies, Official Baku says it recognizes Ukraine's territorial integrity. Her words prove that she cannot read the text. it also shows that the Russian media is not independent. Russia's Russia 1, First Channel, NTV, RenTV, RBK and other news channels are broadcast in Azerbaijan through cable television. These channels have previously spoken out against Azerbaijan. From this point of view, it does not seem logical to broadcast propaganda against Azerbaijan on its territory.

One of Russia's propaganda tools in Azerbaijan is the Baku branch of the Sputnik News Agency. Sputnik was founded in November 2014 on the basis of the international department of the Russian RIA Novosti agency. Sputnik Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan is an active member of the Armenian Diaspora in Russia, and she promotes the so-called Armenian genocide. Earlier, several Azerbaijani journalists were fired for taking a fair and objective position. One of them is Matin Yasharoghlu. He was fired for criticizing Armenia's aggressive stance against Azerbaijan. Sputnik continues its propaganda against Azerbaijan. Vitaly Denisov has been appointed the new head of Sputnik's Azerbaijan service. Denisov previously headed Sputnik's local bureau in the self-proclaimed Republic of South Ossetia, a breakaway region of Georgia. According to social media reports, he is linked to the Russian special services. From this point of view, his appointment as a representative to Azerbaijan at this sensitive time is considered a provocation. Denisov is one of Margarita Simonyan's close associates. Ed Royce, chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, recently expressed concern about Russia Today and Sputnik, led by Simonyan. By the way, Simonyan was expelled from the United States before the current events in Ukraine. Russia Today has been banned in the states.

The Russian government requires the country's media outlets to register as public agents. Those who do not meet this requirement are forced to leave the country. From this point of view, there is no need for suspicious Russian media outlets to operate and broadcast in Azerbaijan. Because these sources disseminate information about Azerbaijan in accordance with the line drawn by either the Armenians or the authorities to which they belong. In this case, the news loses its objectivity. This does not represent the interests of the reader or Azerbaijan. Therefore, the activity of the media in Azerbaijan, led by the Simonyans, which promotes Delyagins, contradicts the national interests of the state and information security.
