World Bank to help Azerbaijan create attractive environment for tourism business 

The Chairman of the State Tourism Agency (DTA), Fuad Naghiyev, and the World Bank Country Manager for Azerbaijan, Sarah Michael, discussed the potential cooperation opportunities on projects that will contribute to the development of tourism in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

At the meeting, it was emphasized that the primary goal of the projects implemented by the Agency is to support the development of tourism-oriented entrepreneurship by preserving the cultural heritage, as well as to achieve stable and sustainable development by increasing the level of profitability and well-being of the population.

Sarah Michael noted the importance of cooperation on projects that will support the development of tourism in Azerbaijan and informed about the projects implemented with the support of the World Bank in the cities of Baku and Shaki for the protection of historical and cultural heritage. She said that the World Bank is ready to share its experience in tourism education, development of regional tourism, management of destinations, and the attraction of investments in this area and similar areas.

The sides also discussed the organization of the legal-institutional base, as well as the preparation of diagnostic research documents in the field of tourism in Azerbaijan and the provision of expert support by the World Bank in terms of the application of international experience to create an attractive environment for tourism business.
