Tourist flow to Azerbaijan up by 34%

In January–August of this year, 1,343,700 people from 183 countries came to Azerbaijan, 33.8% more than the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Some 31.7% of tourists came from Russia, 17.7% from Türkiye, 7.5% from Iran, 4.9% from India, 4.7% from Georgia, 4.4% from Saudi Arabia, 2.6% from Kazakhstan, 2.4% from Pakistan, 2.1% from the UAE, 1.8% from Uzbekistan, 1.6% from Israel, 1.5% each from Kuwait and Ukraine, 1.4% from Belarus, 1.2% from Turkmenistan, 1.1% from Great Britain, and 11.9% from other countries. 69.9% of them were men, and 30.1% were women.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of arrivals from China increased by 8.2 times, Turkmenistan by 3.2 times, India by 2.4 times, Uzbekistan by 1.8 times, Kazakhstan by 1.8 times, Belarus by 1.7 times, Russia Federation by 1.6 times, Italy by 1.5 times, USA by 39.5%, Israel by 39.2%, Georgia by 32.9%, Great Britain by 27%, Kuwait by 22.3%, Türkiye by 19.6%, Germany by 18.6%, UAE by 11.8%, and Ukraine by 5.1%.

Compared to January–August 2022, the number of arrivals from the CIS countries increased 1.6 times to 549,400 people, from the EU countries rose by 37.8% to 67,600 people, and from the Gulf countries went down by 10.2% to 228,400 people.

Some 71.9% of foreigners and stateless persons who came to Azerbaijan used air, 26.7% used rail and car, and 1.4% used sea transport.
