Tourist flow to Azerbaijan drops more than threefold  

Azerbaijan received 162,900 people from 134 countries in January-April 2021, down 3.3-fold from the previous year, Report informs, referring to the State Statistical Committee.

The visits were mainly for non-tourism purposes.

Among the tourists, 32.7% came from Russia, 27.6% from Turkey, 16.7% from Iran, 10.8% from Georgia, 2.5% from Ukraine, 1.1% from Great Britain, 1% from Belarus, 0.7% from each of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, 0.6% from each of Turkmenistan and Germany, 0.5% from Italy and, 4.5% from other countries. Men constituted 92.6%, while women 7.4% of the foreigners.

In comparison to a year earlier, the number of tourists from Georgia fell by 8.6-fold in the reporting period, from Turkmenistan – by 6.9-fold, from Kazakhstan – by 5.7-fold, from Uzbekistan – by 3.8-fold, from Russia – by 3.1-fold, from Ukraine – by 2.7-fold, from Great Britain – by 2.7-fold, from Belarus – by 1.8-fold, from Turkey – by 1.5-fold and from Iran – by 1.2-fold.

The number of tourists from Gulf countries slid 2.5-fold to 27,700 people, from CIS countries – by 3.1 fold to 63,100 people and from EU countries – by 2.6-fold to 5,900 people.
