Presidential rep: Honored to host Common Table of Islamic Countries event in Shusha

“We are honored to host the Common Table of Islamic Countries event in Azerbaijan’s Shusha,”Aydin Karimov, the President's Special Representative in Shusha, said at the International Gastronomy Day celebrations, Report informs.

Karimov expressed his unwavering confidence in the event’s success and emphasized its special symbolic significance this year. “Shusha has been designated as the Cultural Capital of Islamic Countries for 2023, and all events are being held under this banner,” he noted. “This festival provides a platform to showcase the rich culture and delectable cuisine of Islamic nations.”

Shusha is celebrating International Gastronomy Day on Friday. In the tent stands set up at Tut Baghi, visitors can savor a variety of dishes from Azerbaijan, Iran, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. These culinary delights represent the shared “Iftar and its associated socio-cultural customs,” which have been inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as a multinational nomination.
