Volodymyr Zelensky sacks commander of Ukrainian National Guard

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has fired the commander of the National Guard, Colonel-General Mykola Balan, Report informs, citing the Ukrainian president's website.

The dismissal comes after a soldier killed five comrades and wounded five others on January 27.

Lieutenant-General Yuri Lebed has been appointed the new commander of the Ukrainian National Guard.
