GUAM foreign ministers meet in Stockholm

The 38th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of GUAM member states was held in Stockholm, Sweden, the local bureau of Report informs, citing the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani briefed on the results of the country's chairmanship in GUAM in 2021 and on the results achieved during the year, despite the pandemic.

The parties discussed the main issues of cooperation on the agenda of the organization, as well as prospects for the development of political, inter-parliamentary, inter-sectoral, as well as cooperation within the GUAM+ format.

Security issues in the region were also discussed during the discussions. The importance of cooperation and coordination within GUAM was stressed.

At the end of the meeting, a protocol was signed on the transfer of the chairmanship of the organization to Moldova. Zalkaliani thanked his counterparts for their cooperation during Georgia’s presidency of GUAM and wished success to Moldova, which will lead the organization in 2022.
