Georgia maintains current regime on land borders

The Georgian government has decided to maintain the current regime on land borders.

The statement came at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Coordination Council, the local Bureau of Report informs.

According to the Prime Minister's instructions, work is underway to change the entry regime to Georgia through land borders. Epidemiological trends are also monitored, and the government will make appropriate decisions after a detailed analysis of the situation.

The meeting noted that Georgia simplified the entry procedure through the air border for Turkish citizens, who are the strategic partners of Georgia. Citizens and residents visiting Georgia or entering for transit purposes must submit a certificate confirming the PCR test's negative result conducted within 72 hours and re-test their expense in three days.

Along with Turkey, the same regime applies to the European Union, Israel, Switzerland, Norway, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain. Visitors from these countries will not be required to switch to self-isolation when entering Georgia.

Due to the pandemic, Georgia suspended the free movement of land borders with neighboring countries since March last year.
