US-led NATO exercise Swift Response kicks off in Norway

The multinational military exercise Swift Response officially began on Tuesday at Bardufoss in Indre Troms, northern Norway, marking the start of a large-scale training operation involving around 7,000 troops from NATO allied countries, Report informs via The Local Norway.

The exercise, led by the United States, is taking place across Norway, Latvia, Lithuania, and Sweden.

It aims to strengthen the readiness of allied forces and their ability to rapidly deploy in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

"This is an exercise where we practice the strategic movement of forces from the US to Norway. They fly directly over from the US and are deployed via air and land here," Lars Strom, Chief of Communications for the Norwegian Army, told the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK).

Swift Response is part of a broader NATO effort to enhance defence cooperation and interoperability among allied forces.
