The US Treasury Department has issued a temporary license allowing the production, sale, supply or loading of Iranian oil for 60 days, until August 21.
Report informs that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent wrote about this on his X account.
According to him, the decision was made as part of agreements reached during ongoing productive talks between the US and Iran in Switzerland.
Bessent also said that Iran had undertaken to ensure free and unhindered transit through the Strait of Hormuz and to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) into the country.
The first round of peace talks between the US and Iran was held in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on June 21, with mediation by Qatar and Pakistan. The US delegation was led by Vice President J.D. Vance and Donald Trump's special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. On the Iranian side, the talks were conducted by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The meeting followed a memorandum of understanding digitally signed by presidents Donald Trump and Masoud Pezeshkian on June 18. The sides agreed to continue technical consultations until the end of the week and to establish a high-level committee to oversee the negotiation process.
