The number of people killed in the devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 1,252.
According to Report, citing Nepal News, bodies have been discovered across several districts of the country. In addition, the remains of 18 victims found in India have been handed over to Nepal.
Search operations continue for 4,875 people reported missing.
Information on 959 unidentified victims has been published on the official website of the Nepal Police to assist families in identification. Following DNA analysis, 897 bodies have been buried.
The natural disaster struck on the morning of August 26 in northern Nepal. Initial reports indicate that the floods were triggered by a landslide near the Rasuwagadhi border crossing, about 20 km northeast of the China-Nepal border. A powerful flow of water, mud, and rock surged more than 70 km along the riverbed, destroying nearby settlements and submerging a vast area.
